Avoid “Continuous Current” Chargers for Electric Fence
The summer grazing season is in full-swing and the heat and wind is drying our spring forage. So it’s a good time to remind everyone about the importance of using a “pulse-type” fence energizer with electro-plastic conductors (e.g., electric netting, tapes, ropes and twines.)
It’s important to avoid fence chargers labeled as “continuous current”. When a conductor connected to a “continuous current” charger contacts a conductive path to the soil (slightly green weed, twig, stray piece of metal wire, or dry weed that’s wet from dew or rain), a continuous flow of electricity flows down this path to the soil creating an almost audible “buzz.”
This continuous flow is dangerous! It will melt any conductive strands of plastic when the fence touches a green weed… and it can start a fire if the right conditions exist.

That's why we advise folks to always use a "pulse-type" fence energizer. (All energizers sold on Premier's website use an intermittent pulse and are suitable for use with electric netting.)
