Build your own solar energizer

Fine tune an energizer system to meet YOUR needs…

DIY solar energizer diagram

Select an energizer with enough output (joules) to electrify your longest fence line. The size of the solar panel will depend on the energy draw of the energizer.
You will need:
  1. Fence Energizer
  2. Energizer Support Box
  3. Solar Panel Brackets
  4. Solar Panel*
  5. Wiring Harness
  6. 12V Battery
  7. Ground Rod(s)**

* A voltage regulator should be used w/ panels 20 watts or larger.
** Ground rods not shown. We recommend 3 ft per joule of output. Learn more about grounding systems.
How to assemble and connect your system:
Mount energizer (1) to the energizer support box (2). The support box has been pre-drilled for Premier brand solar panel brackets. (Use a 1/4" drill bit if adding holes.) Insert these into the top of the case and thread nuts onto bolts. Attach the solar panel (4) to the brackets (3). The 12V battery (6) sits in the center compartment. Attach the battery to the solar panel (for recharging). Orient the unit so the panel faces due south and attach wiring harness (5) to fence and grounding system.
