5 Light Fence Tester
Product Details
A simple, 5 light tester for approximating the voltage on your electric fence.
Instructions/Diagrams:
Specs
- Tester body: 6"L x 1-1/4"W
- Cable: 5' long
- Ground probe: 5" long
How to Use
- Insert the probe of the tester into the soil.
- Remove your hand from the metal portion of the probe (to avoid a shock).
- To get a voltage reading, touch the metal clip (on the top of the tester) to the electrified fence you wish to test.
- The tester will light up according to the voltage at that location on the fence.
- Remove the tester from the fence and the probe from the soil. Do not remove the probe by pulling the insulated wire.
- Turn off energizer.
- Disconnect ground wire and fence wire from energizer.
- Turn on energizer.
- Touch probe from tester to ground terminal on energizer (be sure to hold onto the insulated wire and not the metal probe!)
- At same time touch the fence hook on tester to fence terminal on energizer.
- The tester should light up to 6000 volts or more.
Troubleshooting
- Make sure that the probe has not become separated from the black insulated wire.
- Cup your hands around the body of the tester to keep the sun's glare off the lights of the tester.

Works well for the price.

Overall it serves its purpose at a low cost, however the LED lights are difficult to see in bright conditions.

This is a simple tester and does the job of knowing if my netting has enough voltage going through it. My netting is in partial shade so didn't have the light issues others did. What wasn't as clear is if the individual lights were all the way on or only partially on (and so maybe between the two voltages).

Not a fan of this tester. It shows a bright light on the first light, but as the scale goes up, you can't really see the light, you can in the dark, but it's not clear if that means the fence is putting out the power. I'd go with the numbers type next time, sorry I bought this one.

For the price its a great little tester.
