IntelliTwine™ 2.25
Product Details
2.25mm (12 gauge/.09" dia.) electrifiable polywire. A good choice when portability is needed. Often used for rotational grazing of cattle and sheep.
Virgin polyethylene monofilaments are twisted with 3 stainless steel and 3 tinned copper filaments. (Copper has the best electrical conductivity of any metal, except silver.)
IntelliTwine™ 2.25 is lightweight, has excellent elasticity, and is resistant to mildew. It’s easy to unwind/rewind onto reels—small diameter enables reels to hold up to 2000 ft.

Benefits
Polyethylene works well in humid climates because it resists mildew better than polyester.
Can be pre-wound onto an EcoReel, EcoReel XL or a SupaReel (Spool Only) or SupaReel (Complete).

Installation
Properly energized fences last longer and require less maintenance—because animals do not crowd, rub or scratch on them. Confirm voltage is at least 3000V at the end of the fence line. Tree limbs that fall upon the fence must be removed immediately.
Spacing of line posts must be adjusted to terrain. Always put a post at top of hills and bottom of valleys. Vary the spacing of rope strands according to type and size of animal(s), fence usage (boundary vs. subdivision) and the number of strands.
Suggested Strand Height (from ground):
- For Sheep:
- 3-strand fence—35", 24", 12"
- 5-strand fence—36", 27", 20", 13", 7"
- For Cattle:
- 1-strand fence—34"
- 2-strand fence—34", 22"
- 3-strand fence—40", 27", 15"
- For Gardens:
- 2-strand fence—15", 6"
For dry soil and snowy conditions, convert the fence to “positive/negative” by connecting every other strand to a galvanized stake driven into the soil.

The cost makes it an attractive option for wildlife control in gardens—just insert posts, add insulators, then string it up. However, when compared to electric netting, it’s more work and often less reliable.

This is my favorite conductor on the market. The visibility is as good or better than the high dollar braided products as braid seems to pick up more dirt and dust which causes it to contrast less. We generally run short lengths of polywire — most being 300–400 feet between permanent fences — and the conductivity between this and the more expensive stuff is indiscernible. Where I can only fit about 1200 feet of polybraid on a reel, I can get 1800 of this. This stuff is my go-to.

I have ordered from Premier 1 for decades. We receive our orders promptly. I was never a “large” producer and have reduced and moved to a different farm in process of retiring, but really enjoy the animals and 20 acres of pasture converted from rented corn/soy field. I still appreciate the descriptions and recommendations in catalogs or online.
I once again was tempted to just get some locally available polywire at farm store.
But when I compared price to quality of products on the shelf, they were clearly of lower quality for price, or more expensive and I know the quality of IntelliTwine 2.25.
I have also used and ordered again some IntelliBraid which I like better, but due to price the IntelliTwine goes a lot further.
It’s been a while since I ordered new polywire. I feel it lasts longer than they advertise. But after a while, cutting and splicing out damaged sections gets old. A new roll is a great treat!

This polywire was perfect for protecting my garden. It was easy to put up even in the high winds that are common where I live and so far it has worked well. I would definitely buy it again.

Using to subdivide a pasture for sheep. Running just two lines and so far no problems.

Excellent value. By far the best we have used in our adaptive grazing system — be sure to compare the ohms/mi (or feet) ratings against other brands. We have used this for cattle, horses, sheep, & pigs. This smaller diameter twine rolls up well on any reel and kept the weight manageable for portability. Have a few rolls that are 2-3 years old & still in use. We now no longer buy any other brand of twine. Yes, it has been broken a couple of times by horses or deer but can tie it back together and it still works.
