This one is easier to load than the older model--the jaws are a fraction of an inch longer. However, contrary to the instructions, this model requires that the tag be placed in the tagger with the pin pointing from the black side toward the yellow; otherwise there is no receptacle for the pin and the point of the tag will wound the ear without penetrating. Even when loaded properly, the extra room given for easy loading allows the pin and hole to misalign, resulting in a bent and unusable tag. Failure rate for a properly loaded tag is 5-10%.
